Is “Megalomania” Keeping You Sick?

Is “Megalomania” Keeping You Sick?

Megalomania may be keeping you sick. Megalomania is a word that is not used often in our society but has implications for cancer survival. Wikipedia defines the word as being derived from the Greek: megalo-, meaning large or great, and : mania, meaning madness, frenzy.  In common everyday application, we often won’t do things that are “beneath” us, seemingly unimportant, below our pay grade. The often quoted “Go Big or Go Home,” sounds good, you might even get a standing ovation at a Rotary convention with that, but it may be keeping people sick. Here’s how: Megalomania will keep you from doing the small things that add up to big results later. Attention to detail in health recovery is everything. You may consider grocery shopping or cooking as work for someone other than you. If you rely on others to provide these things, often they will not exercise the care in food selection or cooking techniques on which your very life may depend.  We associate activities like this with minimum wage people, not important highly comped executives. If you die, having been a highly comped executive will matter very little, huh? I’ve done most of my grocery shopping for the last 39 years, because as I learned new things about nutrition, I was able to make better food selections. Someone who does not have their finger on the pulse of new nutritional information, cannot be expected to know how to maximize their choices. Juicing, for example, is a lot of work. Juicing involves shopping for the right raw products, prep time, actual juicing, and then the discipline to actually drink the stuff. Not sexy, it’s repetitious, but could be a key to detoxing your future. Colonics are so far down on the chart of “interesting things to do today,” that for most, it is not even a consideration. Consider it. Megalomania may be robbing you of your daily satisfaction. Many people lose their job when they go through a huge health crisis. They had to be away from work for so long that they were ultimately replaced. When they try to reenter the work force, they find people tend to view them differently. After their cobra health insurance expires, they find they can no longer afford the rates extended to “someone who had cancer.”  Often these people wind up taking jobs that require very little of the talent they applied to their former key positions. They do not have the “benies” they had before and people actually treat them differently now. Where before they may have seen themselves as a mover and a shaker, now they are treated like a worker instead of a leader. The result? Lower self-esteem that may lead to a lowered immune system response. Depression sets in and they find they become sick again. Is the key to avoid Megalomania? Give the same attention to detail at this lesser post that you did to the VP job you had before. Work the same number of hours you would if you owned the place. Offer creative suggestions and EXECUTE, EXECUTE, EXECUTE yourself to distinction. Most employees have neat ideas, few if any, actually do anything about it. If you can make up your mind that the importance of any task is nothing more than the significance you place...

The Patient or the Tumor?

The Patient or the Tumor?

Should we be treating The Patient or the Tumor? It’s an age old question, treat the Patient or the Tumor? Modern cancer therapies of chemo, radiation, and therapy are primarily concerned with ridding the body of tumors. If the tumor shrinks or disappears, the therapy is a success, even if the patient died. Nuts, huh? Dr. Ernesto Contreras asks, who should we be treating The Patient or the Tumor? Dr. Ernesto Contreras had been speaking to many health and medical organizations since the early 1970s. Over and over he presented his papers and was told his “cancer cures” were worthless because sometimes the tumor only shrank a bit but did not disappear even thought the patient may have lived for twenty more years. His son, Dr. Francisco Contreras inherited his father’s mantel for the Oasis of Hope Hospital in Tijuana, Mexico (www.oasisofhope.com). Today, as with his father before him, Dr. Francisco Contreras battles the medical establishment on effective treatment. According to Dr. Contreras, “If the patient is comfortable and lives an extra ten years, why are we so distracted if they have a non threatening tumor?” Dr. Contreras was interviewed on the popular TV show, Know the Cause with Doug Kaufmann to address this issue, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-_4xdjeWps. The Oasis of Hope Hospital answers the question, The Patient or the Tumor? Oasis, as well as other Alternative and Integrative clinics and hospitals keep all options on the table: mild chemotherapy, surgery, nutrition, ozone, etc. They introduce a “cocktail” of alternative therapies because different people respond to different therapies and with cancer, one does not have the luxury of time to try each one for a mont or two. Time is of the essence so when one recovers, one is never totally sure what healed them but isn’t that like the people who are treated for AIDS with their “cocktail?” The logic is the same and effective. Are you a Patient or a Tumor? The number one question I get is, “When did you know you were cured?” Not totally sure, actually. It took over a year before I didn’t need three hour naps a day. But in the second year of staying on an all organic Diet and Program, my energy began to return, my color came back, and I added a few pounds. If you are facing a cancer situation, my advice is to go somewhere where they treat the Patient, not the Tumor.    ...

Gluten Free, a fad or a real issue?

Gluten Free, a fad or a real issue?

Is Gluten Free a fad or a real issue? We hear it all the time and now we see it in grocery stores. Gluten Free! And, sometimes it’s on packages that have never been or never will contain gluten, like vegetables, meat and water. But for those who have been diagnosed as having Celiac, or Celiac Sprue, or Gluten Intolerant, or Gluten Sensitivity, it is not only real, but to ignore it could be life-threatening. Don’t believe it? Medical Doctor says Gluten Free matters a lot! Dr. Mark Hyman, MD, calls today’s wheat Frankenwheat. He claims it has been genetically altered and bears little resemblance to any wheat our forefathers ate. In the August 13 edition of the Huffington Post, Dr. Hyman says modern day wheat: It contains a Super Starch — amylopectin A that is super fattening. It contains a form of Super Gluten that is super-inflammatory. It contains forms of a Super Drug that is super-addictive and makes you crave and eat more. Clearly, the most damaging of these is that it causes inflammation and according to Francisco Contreras, MD, Oncologist and Surgeon, “Inflammation is the precursor to all cancers…” How to know if Gluten Free is for you… The very best way to know if you should avoid wheat is to stop eating all forms of it for up to six weeks. Most people who do this have fewer headaches, less bloating, less diarrhea or constipation. Most breads, pastas, donuts, basically everything you like contains wheat. The number one ingredient in Soy Sauce? Wheat. Not soy. Go figure. The good news is that nearly all health food stores and most grocery stores today have Gluten Free foods. You can buy UDIs bread, Glutino donuts, many kinds of Gluten Free pastas, in fact, you can still gain weight simply buy eating enough gluten free foods. Moderation is the key, huh? Want to reduce inflammation? Go Gluten Free....

Water for Cancer Therapy

Water for Cancer Therapy

Water for Cancer Therapy is essential. Yeah, you hear it all the time, “Drink 6-8 glasses of pure water a day.” Do you know one single person who drinks that much water unless they are making a living selling it? Probably not. If I can get anyone to drink 4 glasses of purified water a day, that’s great! Water for Cancer Therapy was and is an essential part of my recovery. In 1974, when I was diagnose with stage three cancer, I was told at the Oasis of Hope clinic (www.oasisofhope.com) that I should buy a water distiller or filter. We bought a water distiller that was the size of a small VW. You had to hang a gallon bottle on a hook, wait several hours for it to fill, and then spend three hours descaling the thing. But, we did that for about five years. Then we bought a carbon block filter, then an RO filtering unit, and finally, a water ionizer. The key is, we were drinking pure water for over 39 years now. Bottled water in plastic bottles is not my favorite because the plastic can leach and who really knows what kind of water is in those bottles? It is not very well regulated. The comics Penn & Teller did a spoof on bottled water on their HBO special. If you can live with the F word being used, watch it and you will be shocked what’s in bottled water: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfPAjUvvnIc. I’m glad water municipalities adds harmful chemicals to the water supply because I don’t want to get all the diseases that bacteria laden water can bring. I’m also glad my bread comes in a wrapper from the store for the same reason. But, I don’t eat the wrapper, do you? And I don’t want to drink the chemicals that were put into the water to kill the bacteria. That needs to be filtered out. Does Water for Cancer Therapy need to be ionized? Enthusiastic MLMers are selling water ionizers for $4,000 a pop and getting it. A good water ionizer is available for a lot less if you Google it. Companies like Tyent USA and others sell them for much less. But ionizers make two claims. One is for alkalinity. For me, the jury is still out if alkaline water actually changes the alkalinity of your body’s blood, urine, or saliva. Alkaline food stays alkaline even after it has been digested in a high acid environment. Not so with water. However, the ORP value (Oxidative Reduction Potential) of ionized water means it is a very good antioxidant. Think a bottle of ionized water is better that a gallon of OJ. So, you may want to lay out the bucks for a water ionizer. The key is the Water for Cancer Therapy is a good idea! Bottom’s up!...

Air Purifiers and Filters are important for better health

Air Purifiers and Filters are important for better health

Air Purifiers and Filters are important if you are recovering from alternative cancer therapy Oddly enough, people who are Vegans in their diet, wear only 100% cotton clothes, and meditate two hours a day seldom have the air in their homes or offices purified because they are unaware of the dangers in not doing so. According to the World Health Organization, fact sheet #292, “Every year, indoor air pollution is responsible for the death of 1.6 million people–that’s one death every 20 seconds.”   USA Today, had this to say, Exposures “may be causing mutations in a child’s cells that begin the pathway to cancer,” says Philip Landrigan, one of the nation’s foremost experts on pediatric medicine and a physician at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. “Those mutations, once they take place, they’re hard-wired,” Landrigan says. BEGIN THE PATHWAY TO CANCER? We have underestimated this threat by a country mile! Air Purifiers and Filters are not an option any more What kind to get? There are hundreds of kinds and models from which to choose. There are basically two kinds of units. A Purifier is best at reducing mold, mildew and viruses. Usually it involves low levels of ozone generated by UV light or an electrostatic plate. Currently I have three of them running in my house. In addition, I have an air filter that is best for reducing airborne pollen, dead human skin, and other things that make us go sneeze in the night. Check our shopping cart for models and pricing. The key is to be purifying the air in your home with and Air Purifier or...

Exercise for Diabetes and Cancer?

Exercise for Diabetes and Cancer?

Exercise for Diabetes and Cancer? Are you kidding me? Who feels like exercising when they have stage 3 or 4 cancer? Who feels like exercising when they have type 2 Diabetes? You should. Old school medicine said to go home, take it easy, get plenty of rest, right? WRONG! Harvard says Exercise for Cancer and Diabetes! Here’s what I mean: “A 2005 study by researchers at Harvard Medical School found that breast cancer patients who exercise moderately for 3-5 hours a week but their odds of dying from cancer by about half compared to sedentary patients” By HALF?  AND, if you’re a male, if you work out with weights, you can be “between 30-40-% less likely to lose your life to a deadly cancer.” Help me out here, 30-40% LESS LIKELY TO DIE BY PUMPING IRON? Exercise for Cancer and Diabetes is a great idea! Having had stage three cancer, 39 years ago, I understand that when you are a male and down to 123 pounds, hitting the track or the gym is not a primary goal, but it needs to be. I started playing racquet ball in 1976 and played in the city league for more than six years. It was a sweat bath 4-5 times per week. Due to a total of almost ten hours of surgery, the pumping iron was about a year later but now, 39 years later, I just joined the YMCA to start pumping iron after I read the Harvard study! Join me to exercise to help conquer diabetes and cancer. Diet, Detox, Attitude, and Exercise may be the four legs of your health chair. Take one away, it topples. Don’t topple. Keep all four legs working for you. Even if you just walk to the corner and back this week, and two blocks the next week, you will eventually get to where you can walk a couple of miles. I walk my Ginger, our Golden Doodle, two miles a day–and the first mile is uphill. If I do this, my BP remains normal and my digestion is far better…Plus, I don’t want cancer to come back or to develop diabetes. Join me. Exercise is crucial if you have diabetes or cancer according to...

Waterless Cookware increases nutrition

Waterless Cookware increases nutrition

Waterless Cookware increases nutritional value Many of us buy wholesome foods to feed our families. Then we bring it home and cook it to death. Why buy organic foods and then eliminate all vitamins, enzymes and even protein? When we microwave food, we hit it with 400 degrees and studies show that after four minutes, even protein is gone. Waterless Cookware maintains most of our food’s nutrtion. Kansas State University studies Waterless Cooking Kansas State University did an unpublished study on the effects of using low heat when cooking. They found, according to Dr. James Marsden of the food science group, that on average, vegetables that are boiled lose up to 75% of their nutrients when boiled or even steamed. Any heat over 186 degrees, according to Marsden, begins to diminish essential nutrients. Waterless Cookware has been around since the 1920s. Most of us have seen the demonstrations of Waterless Cookware at Home Shows and State Fairs. Usually it’s a Salad Master or Health Craft show. Nearly all the brands are made of surgical stainless steel with an aluminum core. Recently there has been a lot of competition over “layers.” Some claim 5 layers is best, some claim 7 layers. Some pans are so heavy now that one must visit the gym twice so they can get the pan on the stove. Then there’s the competition over how much nickel the stainless contains; is it graded 304, 316, or 360? Here’s the deal: if I cook a meal in a 304 pan or a 316 pan, the food is identical. The only real difference is how the steel stands up to salt and most residential uses of salt won’t degrade a 304 pan. The higher amounts of nickel and chromium were designed for marine use of stainless to stand up to ocean salt water. The price range in Waterless Cookware is staggering On the highest end you get the American made, Party Plan companies like Salad Master. A 7 piece set can run as high as $3,000. A full Master’s Set can run up to $10,000. Of course you are paying for Rep vacations and incomes, but the quality of the cookware is as good as any on the market. Companies like Health Craft are also made in America and are excellent quality. A 7 piece set retails for around $1,200. Both of these are life-time guaranteed. Then China got involved and changed the game forever. One can find a 17 piece set on the Internet for as low as $300. It’s good 304 stainless steel and the waterless feature is fully functional. These Chinese knock-offs have decimated the retail market. Companies in the US can hardly buy the steel for what they are selling at retail. The life-time guarantees are sketchy and you are dealing with a phone bank somewhere in the world rather than a person near you who can get you service.  The important thing is that you get a set of Waterless Cookware and most importantly…learn how to use it! The Cancer Support Show has several videos that can teach you to use this cookware and you can help support the Cancer Support Show by buying a set from them. They carry both the American and Chinese brands. How Waterless Cookware Works Essentially, you add...

Buying Organic food

Buying Organic food

Is Buying Organic Food Really Better? We’ve all been at the store looking for celery stalks. We see the non-organic brand and they look just fine. We go to the next counter over marked “Organic!” and we notice that the celery doesn’t look quite as fresh and it costs more money, sometimes way more. For those who have recently undergone “Alternative Cancer Therapy” as I did 39 years ago, you probably were told to make fresh fruits and vegetables about 80% of your diet and eat them raw if you can. Oh, and buy the Organic Food if you can… Here’s why I buy Organic Food It was 1974 and I was at the Mayo Clinic for treatment of stage 3 lymph system cancer. I had just had three surgeries totaling about ten hours and had an abdominal zipper long enough to crawl out of. Just before taking chemo therapy, a friend told me about the Oasis of Hope Hospital in Tijuana and encouraged me to go. Believe it or not, I left the Mayo Clinic and headed south to Tijuana. My family was not very happy with me… Before I left, they gave me a diet sheet and told me to buy mostly raw fruits and vegetables from “Farmer’s Markets.” Sure. I lived in Minnesota where the ground is frozen about 8 months out of the year. And soon, companies like Monsanto were adding all kinds of chemicals to foods and later even genetically engineering foods. The word on the street was, “BUY ORGANIC FOOD!” Today, 39 years later, the prices on Organic Food are coming down. This is the best news of all. Large grocery store chains like Safeway or Vons, carries their own organic brand called “O” brand. When I reach for a product, I look around on the shelf or in the cabinet for the “O” brand. The prices, while a bit higher, are usually very reasonable. Listen, we vote with our dollars. If we buy Organic Food, companies will farm it and market it. If we don’t, they won’t. We vote every single day by buying Organic...
